Lifecycle – Empathy and design for complex processes.

The primary goal of this class is to familiarize students with a collaborative, cross-disciplinary, human-centered design process. The pedagogical vehicle will be an exploration of the urban waste disposal process, with an emphasis on the end-point(s) of this process: the local waste reclamation facility. The class will focus on the development of a product (or system of products; physical, software, or both), a service (which may involve products) or an environment (which is often a container for products and services) by taking following core attributes into account:
